South Tyrol is the northernmost province of Italy and is located entirely in the Alps. The Brenner Pass, one of the lowest Alpine passes (1,370 m), is not only the state border with Austria, but is also known as a weather divide. If you arrive from the north in bad weather, you will usually find sunny, bright and beautiful weather on the south side of the Alps, in South Tyrol.
